DNS platform failures

We experienced service outages affecting the anycast IP addresses of the authoritative DNS platform.

Any of the domains which we host for customers and ourselves, and reverse lookups for our IP ranges were affected.

Today two times (11:08-11:20 & 12:08-12:15 CET) this issue occurred and resolved.

Our current action is updating the DNS server version we run. The issue seems related to connections PowerDNS keeps open to it’s database back-ends.

Our engineers are further investigating the cause of the issue. Please be assured that we will do our best to keep the impact as minimal as possible.

Update 3 november 2020, 14:45 (CET)

We finished the update of DNS server version on half of the platform. We will run in this state for some time. A next step is to update the other half of our authoritative servers.   We are very closely monitoring the platform and will keep doing so.   Our engineers are further investigating the cause of the issue. Please be assured that we will do our best to keep the impact as minimal as possible.
