Spunky cluster outage

We are currently experiencing some downtime with websites hosted on the Spunky cluster, due to a downed file server.  We are currently working on getting this back up and running and we apologize for the inconvenience that this is causing.  Please check back here for updates, as soon as they become available!

UPDATE 6:57am Pacific: We are also adding Spunky email to the list of services that are down due to this, as some email accounts are hosted on that file server.

We have also discovered the cause for this downtime.  The shelves that hold this file server are redundantly powered, but it seems that both of the power supplies have taken a dive.  We are currently working to restore power to this shelf and hope to have that completed soon.  Check back here for more updates!

UPDATE 7:33am Pacific: We’re almost there!  We ended up replacing the shelf for this file server, as we discovered that one of the power strips died and the power supply connected to the hot strip was also dead!  So, this normally wouldn’t have caused an outage like this, save for the surprise dead power strip.  The file server is coming back online now and we’ll post the all clear here when we have completed some tests.

UPDATE 10:45am Pacific: The file server issues have been resolved and all services appear to be working correctly now. We are still however dealing with the newest status post about network issues we are dealing with.

So if you are noticing problems still it is likely related to that outage now. Sorry about the file server downtime. Typically our backup power supply would have saved us from this outage. This issue is resolved.

Email Authentication issues

We are currently experiencing an issue with email authentication, which is causing an outage of email services.  We are currently addressing this issue and hope to have it resolved shortly.  Please check back here for updates, as they become available.  We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience that this is causing.

update: This issue appears to be resolved and only lasted for about 10-15 minutes.  We found that the ‘imapproxy’ service stopped running on a number of mail servers, as well as some issues with the SMTP service.  We re-initialized these services and they came back quickly.  If you are still having any issues, please feel free to contact Support and they will be happy to check!

Homie cluster downtime

We are currently experiencing downtime with our Homie cluster.  Our Admins are actively working on this issue and hope to have it resolved shortly.  We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience that this is causing.  Please check back here for updates!

UPDATE – 12:45pm PST: This problem should have been fixed for the last couple of hours, but we’ve been testing things out to make sure everything is back to normal. This issue was caused by a php upgrade to our homie server image that was done for security purposes and that caused the server apaches to become unresponsive until they were restarted. We scheduled the restarts as soon as we isolated the problem, but due to the amount of servers that needed this done it took a while to get them all updated. We’ve tested all the servers affected, along with a large pool of customer domains on these servers, and they seem to be working fine now. If you have any additional issues, it was likely not due to this incident and you should contact support for further assistance. We’re sorry for any inconvenience this caused you.

Iola storing (3)

Server Iola is wederom down, vermoedelijk door het feit dat wij gisteren Perl weer hebben ingeschakeld. Perl schijnt het script te draaien welke ervoor zorgt dat de Apache server keer op keer vastloopt. We hebben de server herstart en zijn nu nogmaals een poging aan het doen om het schadelijke script terug te vinden op de server.

Server Iola is opnieuw down door overbelasting van de server, we doen onze uiterste best om alles zo snel mogelijk weer online te plaatsen. We gaan morgen accounts overplaatsen naar een andere server en in de loop van de week wordt de processor ook vervangen.

Update (0:06):
De server is terug online, we zijn momenteel bezig de boel te stabiliseren. De nieuwe processor is gisteren besteld en zal na verwachting dinsdag/woensdag binnen zijn waarnaar wij de processor van Iola zullen vervangen. Ook gaan wij 1 of 2 reseller accounts verplaatsen van server Iola naar server Dione.

Klanten kunnen dit bij ons aanvragen, en zich hierdoor dus vrijwillig aanmelden.

Update (0:24):
Het account welke de afgelopen dagen de problemen veroorzaakte op server Iola hebben wij zojuist geblokkeerd. De load is nu drastisch aan het afzwakken maar het zou mogelijk zijn dat wij de server nog even moeten herstarten om ervoor te zorgen dat de server weer volkomen stabiel is, we houden u middels dit topic op de hoogte.

Server Iola is omstreeks 22:45 gecrasht, de oorzaak hiervan is onbekend. Er is een medewerker onderweg waarnaar wij het probleem zullen onderzoeken. Middels dit bericht houden wij u zo goed mogelijk op de hoogte. Onze oprechte excuses voor het ongemak.

Update (23:42):
De server is terug online en er wordt momenteel gekeken naar de oorzaak van het probleem. Wij houden u nogmaals via dit bericht op de hoogte.

Storing Iola

De httpd op server Iola is op dit moment offline, we weten hoe we dit probleem per direct tijdelijk kunnen verhelpen maar om de oorzaak van het probleem te onderzoeken en permanent te verhelpen hebben we besloten nu direct aan de slag te gaan. We zullen ervoor zorgen dat server Iola z.s.m. terug online zal zijn waarbij dit probleem permanent is verholpen. Onze excuses voor het ongemak. Hou het forum in de gaten voor meer informatie over deze storing, de werkzaamheden en de oplossing.

Grafix Capelle a/d IJssel: transformator 21-03-2009 (update)

De volgende e-mail ontvingen wij vandaag van Grafix Internet B.V.:

Geachte relatie,

Aankomende zaterdag, 21 maart 2009, zullen er werkzaamheden worden uitgevoerd aan ons transformatorhuis in Capelle a/d IJssel. Hiervoor is het noodzakelijk dat wij omstreeks 09.00u omschakelen naar ons generator vermogen. Naar verwachting zullen de werkzaamheden omstreeks 10:30u afgerond worden waarna er zal worden teruggeschakeld naar de reguliere netspanning. Deze werkzaamheden zullen de continuiteit niet beinvloeden.

Vertrouwende u hiermee voldoende te hebben geinformeerd.

Upcoming Saturday, the 21st of March 2009, we will be performing maintenance on our power transformer within our location in Capelle a/d IJssel. We will there for switch from our mians power supply to our diesel generator power grid. This will take place at approx. 09:00 AM GMT+1. We expect to finish maintenance at approx. 10:30 AM GMT+1 after which the mains power supply will be restored. This maintenance should not effect the servers.

De ondervermelde werkzaamheden worden wegens omstandigheden uitgesteld naar zaterdag 28 maart 2009, 09.00u. Wegens een onduidelijke instelling in de software van onze nieuwe omschakelkast is besloten om geen onnodig risico te lopen en de werkzaamheden uit te stellen.

Aankomende week zal onze leverancier de instellingen nalopen en testen waarna de omschakeling volgende week zaterdag alsnog kan worden uitgevoerd. Vertrouwende op uw begrip in deze,

This maintenance has been postphoned until next week. We will perform the work next Saturday, the 28th of March at 09.00h GMT+1.We decided not to take any unnecessary risks because of inconsistency in the computer of our new controlpanel. There for the maintenance has been rescheduled.
